Our neighbors, east of Palomino just south of the jog. We haven't met them yet, but they're always there.
On the open plain you can see little brown circles with a dot inside them. What are they? Some kind of plant? We couldn't figure it out, but we saw them almost everywhere.
This is the dirt road we take between our place and Grants. Follow the road up from the bottom, it jogs to the right, then back to the left, then -- see where it's smudged out? That's were we decided to not get our rental car stuck. :)
Little lakes are everywhere! They should have tipped us off to the state of the dirt roads.

I was impressed by these huge crack in the lava flow. We've got up-close pictures of them in the section with pictures from our hike.
