Tucson
May 4-9
The Drive Out:
West Texas wasn't as dull as I'd expected. Dull, yes, but I was
thinking Kansas magnitude. Maybe it was just that it's May, and
everything's green...
Anyways, I got to Las Crucas, NM about 9:30 on Monday night PST, and since
I wasn't tired, decided to try to make it to Tucson in one night. Got to
go through some dust storms, which seemed kinda cool. It was just windy.
Finally made it to Tucson at about 1:30AM. At least I didn't get hit by
any bad weather...
The Visit
Tuesday: Walked to McD's for lunch, then came back to the apartment.
Turned on the Pirates Gamecast (they lost) and the Pens game 7 (they won).
Had a pretty funny moment after Jason got back and we'd turned on the
Cards game... Jason's a Cardinal fan, and we "watched" Mac hit a grand
slam off of Greg Maddux. You'd think he'd be happy, right? Nope, cuz in
our fantasy league, I have Mac and he has Maddux. I've turned him! And
just a year ago, he called me a stat whore just cuz I'd occasionally root
for my players against the Bucs...
Anyways, dinner was greasy fish, and then we went to Spades. Then we got
some ice cream and watched a few episodes of South Park.
This is where the detail level will go WAY down. I was lazy, and
didn't write these pages till October 16th. For some odd reason, I
don't remember all that much detail anymore. I'll try to explain the
pictures tho, and recall what I can.
Wednesday: I played softball with Jason's team. I was pretty much a
ringer, yet probably the first ringer in history to get sore for 3 days
after a softball game. We fell way behind, and ALMOST came back to win,
but that team never wins. My main excitement came from A) when I drilled
a grounder off the 3rd base bag that went about 10 feet in the air and
ended up a double, and B) when I had a close play at first, caught the
throw, had the runner step on the ball in my glove, and shoot free. Um,
isn't that an out? I thought so. But the ump didn't. Oh well.
Thursday: The Matrix. It was ok.
Friday: Checked out a Tucson Sidewinders game. I think they won... I
remember a pretty impressive HR by some random guy. That's about it
tho.

Me and Jason at the game

The game.
Saturday: We drove up to BOB to check out a Mets-Diamondbacks game.
Again, I can't remember who won. Baseball's not meant to be played
indoors tho. And I hate both teams involved.
Sunday: We deove down to Puerto Penasco, a town in Mexico. On the way
there, we stopped and saw some bigass cacti. Fortunately, we spied
neither E's nor H's. (E(cactus)=H(cactus).

Once down in Mexico, we got
some classic art for Monroe (a glass in the shape of a woman's butt), and
checked out the beach. It might look pretty, but it was pretty crummy,
garbage-filled, etc. So we didn't go swimming.

The rest of my time there, hmm... Well, we watched a lot of downloaded
South Park, watched a few DVDs (Mafia (1.5), other stuff I don't
remember)... Basically hung out and had fun. But then it was time to be
off for Tech...
